Professor Mads Melbye, MD, DMSc, is today director of the Division of Epidemology in Statens Serum Institute of Copenhagen, Denmark. Besides his multiple political functions (e.g. Chairman, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation's coordinationg group regarding registry research and Vive-Chairman of the Danish Medical Research Council), he has received a number of prestigious awards, like The Novo Nordisk Prize in 2005.
